Earlier today in his hometown of Somers, New York; Jim Chisholm announced his candidacy for Westchester County Clerk. He announced his candidacy by stating “I have served Westchester in many different capacities and want to further serve the people of Westchester anyway I can”. He then added “I have heard many concerns and frustrations with our current county clerk by constituents and business professionals alike. After much consideration and a lot of planning, I am officially announcing my Candidacy for Westchester County Clerk”.
The former small business owner announced his candidacy in front of more than 100 people who live in the Heritage Hills Complex where Jim resides. Numerous elected officials, and GOP representatives showed their support and attended his announcement; this included Westchester County GOP Chairman Doug Colety, Chief of Staff to the Westchester County Executive Phil Oliva, Somers Town Supervisor Rick Morrissey, and Young Republican Chairman Matt McCarrick,.
Chisholm is a Republican who is currently the Somers Republican GOP Chairman. He has served as a small business man, and has volunteered his time to different local community organizations over the last 40 years. This includes his current roles as the Commissioner to the NYS Parks and Recs Board, Chairman of Westchester County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Board, and Chairman of Westchester County Playland Citizens Advisory Board. He has previously served as the Economic Development Director to the New York State Senate’s 40th District. He served as the Chairman to the Bedford Drug Abuse Council as well as President of the Somers Chamber of Commerce, Somers Lions Club and Eastchester Rotary Club. Additionally he was on the American Youth Soccer Board and was a baseball, softball and soccer coach for youth teams. His wife of 43 years is a former Yonkers Teacher, together they have three children and seven grandchildren.
He stated “I have seen firsthand how taking the time to serve your community can impact many lives in a positive way. I know that I can change many more lives by further serving the people of Westchester”. Chisholm went on to say “our current County Clerk has served on the government’s dime for over 30 years and has served as the County Clerk for 12 years. I very much believe in term limits and think it is time for an outsider to bring new ideas to this countywide office”.
